Dynamic IP v1.0.0

Dynamic IP Black Listing

This is one of many dynamic IP address rules that provide wonderful blocking functionality. Many dynamic/residentialial/dialup IPs are not allowed by this rule. It assumes that a legitimate company on DSL would have its reverse (PTR record) set to its domain and not a generic PTR. For this rule to work, mail clients on DSL/cable/dialup IPs must use SMTP AUTH.

Many variations of this rule exist to catch dynamic IP addresses. Using periods instead of hyphens, reversing the dotted IP address ordering, etc., in the Match String column provide for many variations that are commonly used in PTR records for dynamic IP addresses.
