eTrans v1.1.0 Released by Deep Sky Technologies, Inc.

Upgrade of Credit Card Transaction Component for 4D

Vero Beach, FL - Wednesday, May 15th, 2002: Deep Sky Technologies, Inc., today announced the release of the first upgrade of eTrans for Macintosh and Windows. eTrans is a 4th Dimension component which provides a simple, consistent interface to online credit card authorization service providers. Using eTrans, 4th Dimension developers can build credit card authorization services into their 4D databases in a matter of minutes.

With eTrans, credit card and electronic check processing can be added to 4D applications with as little as four (4) lines of code. Switching between gateway processors requires a change in only a single line of code when using the eTrans component. This is ideal for vertical market applications where the processing of credit cards and electronic checks would be a value added feature for end customers.

Currently, eTrans supports processing of transactions through the following provider services online:

Other gateway providers will be supported in future releases of the eTrans component.

eTrans works "on top" of HTTP Client Deux, another 4D component available for free from Deep Sky Technologies, Inc. HTTP Client Deux provides a complete web request interface for 4D developers just a couple of routines. HTTP Client Deux v1.1.0 or above is required with this release of eTrans.

eTrans also works "on top" of TCP Deux, another 4D component available from Deep Sky Technologies, Inc. TCP Deux provides completely transparent operation with 4D Internet Commands v6.7.x, Internet ToolKit v2.0.x, and Internet ToolKit v2.5.x; any of these plugins can be used without any coding changes. Because eTrans needs to communicate with the authorization service providers via SSL, eTrans also requires ITK 2.5.x. TCP Deux v1.1.0 or above is required with this release of eTrans.

All of these components do require that the BASh 4D component be installed for it to operate correctly. BASh is a 4D component available for free from DSTi. BASh handles all of the core routines needed to properly run TCP Deux, HTTP Client Deux, and eTrans. BASh v1.7.0 or above is required with this release of eTrans.

eTrans also runs in demo mode for testing and evaluation by developers. When in demo mode, the eTrans component is fully functional for 60 minutes within a 4D database application.

Features in the eTrans component

The functionality available in the eTrans component includes:

  • Single interface adding fields to a financial transaction;
  • Full support for the following providers and transaction types:
    • AuthorizeNet Credit Card (Direct Response)
    • AuthorizeNet Credit Card (Relay Response)
    • AuthorizeNet eCheck (Direct Response)
    • AuthorizeNet eCheck (Relay Response)
    • E-xact Credit Card (Relay Response)
    • FirePay Credit Card (Direct Response)
    • IonGate Credit Card (Direct Response)
    • IonGate Credit Card (Relay Response)
    • LinkPoint Credit Card (Direct Response)
    • PlanetPayment Credit Card (Direct Response)
    • PlanetPayment Credit Card (Relay Response)
    • PlanetPayment eCheck (Direct Response)
    • PlanetPayment eCheck (Relay Response)
    • PlanetPayment Exchanged Rate API
    • SurePay (Direct Response)
    • WorldPay Credit Card (Relay Response)
    • WorldPay Exchange Rate API
  • Complete compatibility with all transaction field types;
  • Automated request generation and formatting;
  • Automatic formatting and content checking for all fields based on the requirements of each individual providers and transaction type;
  • CVV2 support with AuthorizeNet and PlanetPayment.

The exchange rate API available from PlanetPayment and WorldPay are particularly useful. With these APIs, it is a simple matter for a developer to integrate up to date exchange rates for all financial transactions in 4D applications. No other developer tool provides this level of functionality within 4th Dimension.

New Features in v1.1.0

Version 1.1.0 of the eTrans component contains important feature additions and functional expansion.

eTrans now supports the SurePay payment gateway for direct response transactions. With the recent agreements between SurePay and VeriSign make this an important addition to the gateways supported in eTrans. Support of the SurePay gateway provides direct compatibility with the VeriSign PayFlow Pro API from with 4D.

CVV2 codes are now supported with AuthorizeNet and PlanetPayment. Recent additions to the API for these gateways (moving from v3.0 to v3.1) make full support of CVV2 codes for all transactions possible now. This can significantly reduce transaction fees, especially for "card in presence" transactions (check your merchant account agreement for details on CVV2 codes).

The minimum required versions of all "lower" components has been increased with this release of eTrans. BASh v1.7.0 or above, TCP Deux v1.1.0 or above, and HTTP Client Deux v1.1.0 or above are now required for compatibility with this release of eTrans

Finally, support for 4D v6.8.x is now available in eTrans. New affix documents specifically for running under Carbon using 4D v6.8.x are available with this release of the component.
